ELLA BUA IN

Ella Bua-in is a potter based in Cardigan, Wales where she lives with her young family and works from her home studio. Initially starting her practise during education, undertaking a fine art BA, Ella focused solely on painting with oils, once graduated, in an attempt to reconnect to craft and making she joined a ceramics studio and began to teach herself how to work with clay.

This slow, self-directed path led her to this current stage in her career, creating tactile forms from stoneware clay finished with hand-painted designs in oxides.

Ella describers her practise by saying “Illustration and narrative are key to my work which is heavily influenced by our life here on the River Teifi, with mountains and ancient forests on one side, slate cliffs and seabirds on the other. I am also inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, classical art, and folklore,”
