BRIDGET GREENWOOD

Bridget is a contemporary abstract landscape painter based in Cheshire, close to the Welsh border.  She paints intuitively using unplanned shape and imagery to lead the work. She has to allow this freedom so accidents can happen, these accidents can massively inform the work. It is a balance between the intended composition and marks to freedom and unconcious painting. The work might be informed by the landscapes she has photographed and walked in but there isn’t an intention to copy or base it on a ‘real’ landscape.

Bridget’s work tells a story of place and feeling. Her colour schemes are more abstracted than true to life. She uses geometric shapes and lines which add structure to the paintings and create a beautiful depth of field. Her work varies in its level of abstraction, but with a recognisable interest in landscapes and the shapes and undulation of the land.
