TABBY BOOTH
Quickly becoming known for her signature silhouette, Cornwall based artist Tabby Booth’s work treads a captivating parallel between illustration and traditional folk art painting. With a passion for interiors, each piece is designed with this in mind, threaded with themes of beasts, folklore and the sea.
Tabby Booth studied illustration at Central St Martins and is the co-founder of Cygnets Art School and Sailors Jail Gallery in Falmouth, Cornwall which she runs with her husband James Heslip. They live near Penzance in the pink house at the top of the hill, with their two children Rudy and Ziggy, and dog Badger.
"The best things in life are about contrast, and for me, nothing looks better on a wall than that rich, bold silhouette. It works in any size, on any colour, and just as well on its own as combined with other styles and textures. It has the power to transform the character of a space. I love to play around with the juxtaposition of something that looks like an ancient relic, yet with a naive and whimsical element that doesn’t take itself too seriously."
